~For The Jazzers~

SilverFox endorser Fred Domulot, who has toured and performed with too many jazz artists to list here, will be performing clinics and concerts at the Northwest Florida State College Jazz Festival on Thursday, April 5th. This is a great opportunity to see some jazz greats performing and teaching their particular styles. We just found out that legendary bass player and tubaist extraordinaire Joe Murphy will also be joining in the festivities!!!

Fred is a founding member of The Guffman Trio, a jazz band out of Florida and “regulars” at most jazz festivals in the Southeast and around the Gulf Coast. He is also an adjunct professor at Northwest Florida State College, a songwriter, lyricist, producer, and all around good guy. His professional affiliations include Florida Music Educators Association, Florida Collegiate Music Educators Association, Florida Jazz Educators Association, Jazz Education Network, Film Musicians Secondary Markets Fund, and the American Federation of Musicians Union #389.

What Is Urban Jazz You Ask?

What is “Urban Jazz”? To find out the answer, we had to travel across the great Atlantic Ocean to ask Portuguese SilverFox endorser Nelson Sobral. Nelson very happily told us about his brand new project, Urban Jazz Band, which combines the elements of traditional jazz with some of the odd times and flavors of drum n’ bass while also mixing in some hard funk and “chill out” music. This is music to be heard by the masses. There is something for everyone! You can hear the Urban Jazz Band on their MySpace page.

Nelson was trained at the Percussion Institute of Technology in Los Angeles as well as the Ecole de Jazz et Musique Actuelle in Lausanne, Switzerland. He is now a very successful teacher in Portugal and performs clinics all around Europe. Nelson has a new book available, Linear Mode, which offers a different view toward the development of hand and foot technique, independence, coordination, music “cycles” and improvisation.

Please visit Nelson’s website for more information about his playing, teaching, the new Urban Jazz band CD, and his new book Linear Method! The Urban Jazz Band CD is available through all major digital outlets as well as local stores in and around Portugal.

SilverFox Drumsticks are distributed throughout Portugal by CSS РRepresenta̵̤es, Lda.

Nelson totally rocks the Silverfox 5B.

Ready To Get Schooled, Kids?

SilverFox Endorser Marcus Hunter will be performing a clinic next Saturday, November 20 at Sun Radius Music Int’l in Traverse City, MI. This is not a clinic to be missed! Marcus was named the Best Soloist at The Western Michigan Jazz Festival when he was in high school. That was the first time a percussionist ever received this award! He’s also toured with several drum corps over the years, Pop/Hip-Hop sensation Sean Kingston, Soul/Funk group Amp Fiddler, and many others. He was also the house drummer for the Canadian Smooth Jazz Award Show which took place this past summer. You can find videos of his performances on his YouTube channel.
